Sell Your Tanks

Sell Surplus Industrial Propane Tanks Nationwide

Atlantic Tank Sales acquires surplus industrial propane storage tanks from refineries, gas processing plants, utilities, manufacturers, LPG terminals and propane distributors nationwide. We also evaluate storage vessels at retired propane-air and peak-shaving facilities.

Whether a plant is closing, a bulk facility is consolidating or an industrial site is converting to natural gas, we purchase your tanks and coordinate their removal. We also welcome inquiries about tanks still in operation or scheduled to be retired six months to a year from now.

Why Industrial Facilities Sell Their Propane Tanks

Facilities retiring bulk LPG storage vessels during a plant shutdown, conversion from propane to natural gas, terminal closure, or propane-air peak-shaving system retirement can contact Atlantic Tank Sales for a direct purchase evaluation. We focus on large industrial tanks, including 30,000- and 60,000-gallon vessels—not small residential propane cylinders.

Many industrial facilities no longer need propane standby tanks after switching to firm natural gas service.

We also evaluate tanks from refinery closures, declining gas fields, propane bulk-plant consolidations and changing industrial operations. Certain vessels previously used for other products may qualify after technical evaluation.

We Purchase Your Tanks and Handle the Removal

When Atlantic Tank Sales purchases your industrial propane storage tanks, we typically coordinate and pay for:

  • Recovery of remaining propane
  • Preparation and dismantling of the tanks
  • Crane and rigging services
  • Loading, transportation and removal of purchased tanks

We also pay for recoverable propane remaining in the tanks, based on the gallons pumped out.

How to Sell Your Propane Storage Tanks

Have a surplus 30,000- or 60,000-gallon tank? See our 30,000-gallon tank information and 60,000-gallon tank information, then send us photographs and facility details for a direct purchase evaluation.

1. Contact Atlantic Tank Sales

Tell us where the tanks are located, their approximate capacities, and why they are no longer needed.

2. Provide Tank Information and Photographs

Photographs of the tanks and a legible manufacturer data plate or permanent vessel stampings help us evaluate the equipment. A U-1 or U-1A manufacturer’s data report and National Board registration information are helpful when available, but missing paperwork or an NB number does not automatically rule out a purchase.

3. Receive a Purchase Proposal

We evaluate the tanks based on their specifications, condition, location, and removal requirements. When necessary, we arrange a site visit.

4. Coordinate Tank Removal

Once a purchase agreement is reached, Atlantic Tank Sales coordinates propane recovery, dismantling, crane services, and removal of the purchased tanks.

Planning a Plant Closure or Propane-to-Natural-Gas Conversion?

You do not need to wait until a tank is disconnected to discuss a potential sale. If your facility is retiring bulk propane storage, tell us the anticipated shutdown date, whether the vessels remain in service, and any site access or removal deadlines. Atlantic Tank Sales can evaluate the equipment ahead of retirement and discuss a purchase and removal schedule appropriate to the facility.

For an initial evaluation, approximate capacity, number of tanks, site location, photographs and any available data plate details are useful. Missing records do not automatically prevent an inquiry.

Who Buys Used Industrial Propane Storage Tanks?

Atlantic Tank Sales is a direct buyer of large surplus propane and LPG storage vessels. If your company is searching for a buyer for used bulk propane tanks, contact us with the number of vessels, approximate capacities, facility location and any available photographs or data plate details. We evaluate equipment owned by propane distributors, industrial plants, utilities, refineries and other commercial facilities nationwide.

Our purchasing focus is substantial horizontal industrial storage tanks, including 30,000- and 60,000-gallon vessels. We do not operate a consumer propane-cylinder exchange or residential tank disposal service. When we purchase qualifying tanks, we coordinate the agreed propane recovery and equipment removal.
