How a Propane Gas Storage Tank Purchase and Removal Works
1. Tell Us About the Tank
Share the capacity, approximate dimensions, manufacturer, year built, location, condition and any available photographs or documentation. National Board registration and the manufacturer's U-1A data report can be useful when available.
2. We Evaluate the Equipment and Site
We assess the vessel, site access, remaining propane and removal requirements before making an offer.
3. We Agree on the Purchase and Removal Plan
For tanks we purchase, Atlantic Tank Sales generally arranges and pays for propane recovery, dismantling, rigging, crane work, loading, removal and associated cleanup. Scope and timing depend on the facility and the agreed transaction.
4. We Complete the Agreed Removal
We coordinate contractors, lifting and transportation. Recoverable propane may also be purchased based on gallons pumped.
Industrial Facilities Retiring Propane Storage
Plant closures, bulk propane facility consolidations, retirement of propane-air or peak-shaving equipment, and conversions from propane to natural gas can leave large LPG storage vessels surplus to requirements. Atlantic Tank Sales evaluates these tanks for direct purchase and, when purchased, coordinates the agreed recovery, rigging, dismantling, loading and removal work.

Large Propane Gas Storage Tanks
A 30,000-gallon horizontal tank is a common size in our business. We also have experience with other capacities, including 18,000-, 60,000- and 90,000-gallon tanks. Each opportunity is evaluated individually; we do not guarantee that every tank will qualify for purchase.

We generally pay for the agreed removal work on tanks we purchase. The scope is confirmed for each transaction.
Can you purchase propane remaining in a tank?
Yes, when propane is recoverable, we can purchase the recovered product based on the gallons pumped.

Tank capacity, location, manufacturer, construction year, photographs, general condition and any available National Board or U-1A documentation are helpful starting points.
